Experience This Fantastic River for Yourselves with Wye Canoes and Wye Adventures!
Based in the beautiful Symonds Yat West, we are in the perfect location to take advantage of this amazing river.
Organising your River Wye Canoe/Kayak or Paddleboard trip could not be easier, we have a range of trips both Self Guided (conditions permitting) or Professionally Guided all year round just decide what floats your boat pop your groups details into the online system and book your adventure.
Choosing the trip that’s right for you and whats different under COVID-19 restrictions...
You can choose any canoe kayak or SUP trip from a half day, three quarter day or full day, or if you feeling particularly adventurous then why not dig out that tent and try a multi-day trip and paddle anything up to 100 miles of this stunning river.
Due to the current social distancing restrictions we are currently running a slight altered service, the first thing that's changed is that we are not able to offer shuttle services, normally we would ask you to meet us at the end point in Symonds Yat West and we would transport you up to the start point for you to paddle downstream back to your car, now we are meeting customers at the the start point of your trip, with the ability to only transport 2 persons in each 16 seater bus means shuttles are not currently a viable option unfortunately, customers are advised to run their own shuttles, so dropping a car at the Paddocks Hotel so that they have transport at the end of their trip then making their own way to the start point is one way of doing it, or simply ordering a local taxi at the end of the trip is another, there are pay and display car parks at Ross and Kerne Bridge and most other start points such at Hoarwithy (Tresseck Park Campsite) will allow you to leave vehicles for a small cost. Another change is that at the moment current restrictions mean that only members of the same household are allowed in the same canoe together. PLEASE SEE THE GOVERNMENTS CURRENT GUIDELINES HERE
Trips are slightly different too at the moment, all trips finish at Symonds Yat West as we are unable to collect customers from downriver, we have a full day trip from Ross on Wye starting at 9am, then a shorter trip 3/4 day trip from Kerne Bridge at 11am, the 1pm slot at the moment is for paddle abouts from Symonds Yat West where you will not need a shuttle as you start and finish at the same place. After deciding which canoe trip you fancy it's easy to quick to simply book online for all self-guided trips or for guided trips or if you have any questions don't hesitate to call our friendly staff who are all professional canoe and kayak instructors to go through any questions you might have then you can book online and just sit back and relax until your Wye Valley adventure begins.
On the day of your trip you will meet our staff at the start point where there is plenty of parking, we will have sterilised your equipment and provide you with dry barrels for your belongings, we will give you a safety briefing and then you are off on your Wye Valley adventure.
We ask that you aim to be at the meet point at approximately 15 minutes before your allotted time, please DO NOT arrive late as we have only a certain amount of time at each launch site and I'm afraid if you are late we probably cannot wait as we have to move onto another meet point somewhere else on the river. If you are thinking of leaving a vehicle as a shuttle at the end (Paddocks Hotel) we suggest allowing at least 30 mins travel time to get from the Paddocks Hotel to your start point and your meeting with us. For multi-day trip meeting times please contact us to arrange.
Canoe / Kayak or Stand Up Paddleboard
Something to bear in mind is that although we hire both open canoes, single person kayaks and stand up paddleboards for self guided trips we only hire kayaks and paddleboards to people that have previous experience and in the case of kayaks experience of closed deck kayaks is a must (experience paddling sit on top kayaks doesn't count), we do not need any specific qualifications but mostly these are river journeys covering a fair distance each day so you have to be aware of what you are undertaking, kayaks and SUP's are single person craft (with limited load carrying ability) and very different to canoes. If customers book single person kayaks or SUP's and clearly do not have any experience when we launch them then I'm afraid their hire agreement would be terminated without refund.
To check out the difference between canoes / kayaks and SUP's please see here.
