Adventurous fun and challenging activities for all ages
Wye Adventures is based in the heart of the Wye Valley at Symonds Yat West, so we are in the perfect location to take advantage of this amazing location.
Our instructors and guides are all Highly Qualified and Experienced and have years of experience inspiring and educating young people in Paddlesports from introducing youths to Canoeing, Kayaking and Paddleboarding for the first time in a safe and fun environment to multiday expeditions that can include camping in remote locations and experiencing nature and the outdoors and potentially learning bushcraft and camp craft techniques that will stay with them forever.
Each trip or session is about having fun whilst learning and developing skills. Our sessions can involve anything from being introduced to the basics of Paddlesport, or with a recognised award scheme such as the British Canoeing Paddle Awards.
Maybe it’s an overnight trip you have in mind, we have a number of locations we use for over night camping along the river Wye, some locations are more remote and all food and equipment needs to be transporting in the canoes, and some like Biblins Youth Site in the Wye Gorge are easily accessible to a support team and have great facilities, either way everyone is going to have a great time.
There is 100 miles of paddle able river along the Wye, so for an alternative the group can be taken further up river short or long distances to experience the unique river and paddle along sections of the river Wye itself, or do the complete Wye 100!
But it’s not just about being on the water, we offer many other land based activities, we are based right next to the river and have a great beach style access point and have lots of space so we can offer a combination of land and water based activities such as Archery/Axe and Knife throwing/Problem Solving Challenges/Barrel Rafting/Climbing/Abseiling/Orienteering/Bushcraft etc...
A very popular day of activities for youths is a combination of Skills Challenge Course, Archery and Raft Building, with large groups over 50+ we often break the group up into 3 and run one session of each activity at the same time with a swap over after 90 minutes, this enables everyone to have a go at everything throughout the day and have awesome fun! of course because all the activities are close together and river side that enables leaders to provide lunch to everyone at the same time in the same place.
It’s all about having fun whilst learning new skills and helping to build up their self-esteem and confidence whilst getting them motivated to be in the outdoors. We work with organisations such as Beavers/Cubs/Scouts/DofE/Schools/Cadets/Families any type of group you can imagine and any size including disabled groups. If you were thinking of outside catering we can recommend companies to provide hog roasts, barbecues etc...
Whatever you have in mind, however challenging it may be, Wye Adventures are here to provide inspiration, safety and support for your group whatever the size or experience…

Half Day Sessions
These usually start at 10am or 2pm and last 2.5 hours and can either be bank based or river based, if its a half day river trip you are interested then they tend to be 4 hours and are around 5 miles and we favour a trip from Ross to Kerne Bridge, with around 2-3 hours being on the water and allowing 30 minutes at the start and end for admin. In this time we can teach basic boat control and play some fun games. We can either use Kayaks, Canoes or Paddleboards or maybe a mix.
Full Day Sessions
Starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm these sessions can either be a full day of paddlesport whether its a river journey or a static skills and frills fun session or it could be a mix of activities such as Barrel Rafting, Archery, Bank Based Games like Land Skis, Da Bomb and Gutterball, Axe and Angel Throwing etc. These sessions work brilliantly for larger groups so we can split up and have multiple sessions running and have a static riverside location for lunch etc.
Overnight Camping Trips
An overnight trip is great way to experience the Wye Valley and the great outdoors. We have a number of campsites we prefer including Biblins Youth Campsite in Symonds Yat. After a great day on the river the group can either have a night under canvass or bivvy. Sitting around a campfire is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature, in the Wye Valley we have deer, wild boar, peregrine falcons, buzzards and otters to name a few inhabitants and a great time to way to see them is to camp out.
We can arrange expeditions that can take in the whole of the river Wye such as our Wye 100 Challenge or maybe something a little less challenging a few days on the river camping out and experiencing the stunning Wye Valley, learning fantastic bushcraft techniques and canoeing skills and maybe even achieving a recognised award at the end of it. We can assess for Duke of Edinburgh's Award and British Canoe Paddle Power Awards so the sky is the limit and anything can be achieve with a little effort.
